Comprehensible input is input that you are receiving (listening or reading) that you can understand. At the very early stages it can be as simple as somebody pointing at something and saying the word for it. At later stages, and especially when reading, you will need to know enough words so that the meaning of unknown words you encounter is evident from the context.
